Sixth grade musicians go beyond the families of instruments by characterizing the different instrumental ensembles: chamber, concert band, marching band, and the orchestra. Love for one’s own culture is inculcated by making the indigenous instruments from the various regions of the Philippines known to the students. They are able to identify other types of major and minor scales in several keys. Their knowledge of form in a musical composition is enhanced with the addition of rondo, theme, and variation. In culmination of the entire music program, they are encouraged to compose their own graduation song.
