Music in Grade 1 develops further the students’ skills in listening and in identifying beat and rhythm. They are exposed to different exercises where they are trained to listen carefully to a song and identify its beat and rhythm. It is also during this time that they become aware of the concept of notes and the role they have in music. Their skill in describing a song is further enhanced in this class. Slowly they become aware of the dynamics and tempo of a sound that they hear when they describe a certain sound/song.
